Thank you for giving Christopher Lee & Associates the opportunity to serve you. The following information is intended to provide you with some basic information about start-up costs for a custom designed web site. It also describes some of the processes involved in getting the site up and running.

WEB SITE DEVELOPMENT…. compared to the cost of press advertising and printed promotional materials, gives you excellent value for your hard-earned money.  Anything is possible depending on the budget available. Consequently we can deliver ‘everything at once’, or we can build your website in stages, starting with a basic design and then developing more features as finances permit.  We believe in the walk before run principle.

The two most frequently asked questions about web site development are:

1.      How much will my web site cost?

The average cost per page for a custom designed web site is up to $300 which decreases proportionate with the size of the site.  Our hourly rate is $65.00.

Average Cost of Web Sites:

Walking:
A minimum five-page web site, including an e-form (interactive form that is completed online and submitted to you as an e-mail message), multiple graphics/600 words per page, borders/buttons and graphical interface (navigational bars).  This is intended to be an introduction website bringing customers to you on-line – a nice starting point.

$900

Jogging:
Five to ten page web site ( cost is subject to the complexity of the site) which includes full featured pages, high end graphical interface, special photo treatments, interactive e-forms, javascript coding, and many other features. This is a continuation of the walking site expanding upon your products and services.

$900 - $2400

Running:
Anything over ten pages – cost is subject to the complexity of the site. The graphics required, as well as other variables, will be discussed during the planning stage.   This site would include e-commerce applications, inter-activity,etc.

$2,400+

*Note: Having material available during the design process can reduce the cost of your site.  This allows the designer to apply his/her skill to the graphical interfaces and esthetic appearance of your site.  We will design the best site for your budget.

2.      What will my web site consist of?

An average commercial site is usually between 15 – 20 web pages, while a small business is anything from 3-10 web pages.

All the CLA sites incorporate the following design features into every site:

Page design and layout in HTML 4.01 – this means they can be seen on Explorer and Netscape 4.0 and above.
Illustrations, image maps and scanned photographs as required.
Professional logos, banners and navigation tool bars (extra fee may be charged - please inquire).
High-end bullets, bars, buttons and backgrounds.
Special type styles, fonts and faces.

Additional optional design features which you would like include:

Do you require graphic animation?
Do you require a on-line questionnaire (e-form)
Web positioning design - ready for the search engines - a specialized feature.

The Creative Process is a Team Effort…

In order for us to ‘capture your vision’ within your budget, we’ll begin with an initial meeting. This introductory session should last about one hour and will involve four steps.  If we have to meet online then we’ll probably want to organize a chat over the phone. To maximize our best use of that time we would appreciate you going through the following guideline. This will give you an idea of the content we’re looking for and enable you to bring the relevant information to the discussion.

Step #1

The purpose of my web site is:  (Please check the statements that most accurately describe your intent.)

To sell products or services directly.
To gain a favorable impression of my company or organization.
To develop a qualified list of prospects.
To improve overall customer service.
To test for potential new market niches.
To inform present customers of product updates and new uses.
To encourage new customers to contact us by phone or mail.
To make available product information and price lists to clients.
To make available product information and price lists to suppliers and distributors.

Step #2:

The domain name: (e.g. http://christopherlee.com) Do you need a virtual server (space you rent from a provider to host your site)?

First Choice for Domain Name     _______________________
Second Choice for Domain Name   _______________________
Do you have a preference for a virtual server host:
Island Internet
BC Supernet
Trinex
Shaw
Other  ________________

CLA will provide you with helpful information and recommendations regarding the above information.   At this point simply think about what you wish to call your web site.

Step #3

Gathering the information: (Please check the area when completed)

Gather any brochures, pamphlets, and pictures you use to promote your business.
Break the text on the pamphlet/brochure into pages.  This will give you an idea of how many pages you will need.  What information do you want on page one, two, etc.?
Have you viewed a particular web site that comes close to what you have in mind?  If so, record the url address here: ___________________________
Have you decided on a colour scheme? Which? ______________________
Please take a moment to view our web site at http://christopherlee.com for ideas and suggestions.
You can also view some web pages that have been designed by CLA.

Step #4

Artwork, Graphics, Copy and Text – (Please check those that apply.)

Please note that if you can provide web ready graphics on disk, in either the .tif, .gif or .jpg formats, this will help reduce cost.  If we have to develop new graphics and artwork, or scan them in, it will add to your cost.  Text should be edited and saved in a word processor file, preferably Microsoft Word.

I will provide my own company logo.
I will provide all the written copy for my web pages on disk.
I will provide ‘web ready’ graphics, photos and artwork on disk.
I require help with graphics and artwork.
I require help writing the copy.
I require all new graphics, text and artwork.

After our first meeting:

1. Following the first meeting, a proposal will be developed for your review and signature – (for sites over $800 only).
2. A 50% deposit will be required on all site development.
3. VERY IMPORTANT: Only when we have received all your artwork, graphics, copy and/or text will we proceed with the actual development of your website. Have you ever tried to build something with only some of the pieces?
Please allow approximately 21 - 45 days for your site to be developed from start to finish.

Any other comments:

We recognize that this process can be intimidating.  We place a high priority on serving our clients well.  So please do not be afraid to ask any questions you may have.  Make a note of them here and bring this form with you during our first meeting.
